A winning partnership

The Conservancy partnered with National Park Service – Rock Creek Park, Georgetown Garden Club, and Student Conservation Association to work on alleviating our Park’s ecological distress. This collaborative effort succeeded in repairing a popular stretch of the stream path that had been washed out from heavy overflow of upstream stormwater AND major work freeing trees from non-native invasive vines threatening their survival. The overall degradation of DOP is so severe that survival of this historical landscape is on the edge. But we wrapped up this three day labor of love with a walking tour, given by Program Director Ann Aldrich, where she highlighted what remains of Farrand’s design and inspired a vision of bringing it back to life. A heart felt thank you to all of our Park partners for joining us in restoring the ecological and aesthetic integrity of Dumbarton Oaks Park!
