This fall was our third year running our Haunted Hike in partnership with Rock Creek Park and Jelleff Boys and Girls Club. Each Halloween, Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy transforms the Park into a magical and spooky landscape filled with ghosts, skeletons, spiders, and more.

Erin Agnew from APO Acting as the Ghost of Beatrix Farrand
This year volunteer tour guides led youth and families from the Whitehaven West trail entrance on an eerie hike: participants learned more about the Park during spooky encounters with several historical figures, including the ghosts of Robert and Mildred Bliss, and Beatrix Farrand. Many of the decorations for the event were created by our after-school students, who proudly displayed their creations, made from recycled materials, throughout the Park.

Emiee Mendez from ESA Acting as a Haunted Farmer with Jelleff Boys and Girls Club Youth Volunteers, Joshua, Eden, and Megan
The Haunted Hike would not be possible without our strong community partners, including Paisano’s Pizza for donating pizza to all our hard working volunteers, From the Farmer for donating fresh apples to our brave hikers, and volunteers from Nike, George Washington University, and Hardy Middle School for their marvelous acting skills. We look forward to seeing you in the Park next Halloween, if you dare…
