Today, American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation announced that Dumbarton Oaks Park has been chosen to participate in Partners in Preservation, a community-based initiative that will award $1 million in grants to Washington, D.C. metro area historic places. Partners in Preservation invites Washington, D.C. metro area residents, and anyone who loves the Capitol Region, to help choose the historic places they think most deserve preservation funding. Dumbarton Oaks Park is competing for $75,000 to repair East Falls Dam, its viewing platform and other stonework repairs in the first 2 acres of the Park. The repairs will again allow visitors to pause beside the Falls and listen to the music of the water tumbling toward Rock Creek. Help us restore the stonework and Park to the design intent of Beatrix Farrand. Visit Partnership in Preservation and vote today and everyday! Come to the Park and Tweet about your experience, post to instagram and Foursquare to help us gain extra points!
