The Conservancy has contracted with Larry Weaner to redesign the planting from the Stone Bridge through Gray Arbor. Larry’s team will be reviewing historic photos and working with DOPC and NPS to design the stream corridor to provide blooms and plant interest through the season in a way that incorporates views of the upper gardens, stabilizes the stream banks, is self sustaining through time and low maintenance through time. Once the design is approved by NPS, DOPC will install it in phases as funding becomes available. The Gray Arbor Memorial will be the first phase which we expect to install in fall of 2020.
Larry Weaner’s design and the Gray Arbor installation are supported in part by generous donations from the Garden Club of America’s Partnership for Plants program and the Georgetown Garden Club’s annual Georgetown Garden Tour. Your donations and partnership to complete the design and first phase of the installment are most welcome.
